Functional Guidelines For Purchasing Electric Pool Heaters
Monday, May 11th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedIt can be a real luxury to have a heated pool at your home. It can be hard to decide which type of pool heater is right for you. The three main options you will have when buying a pool heater are electric, gas, or solar powered.
There are many things that go into figuring out which one is right for you. Each option has both advantages and disadvantages. Electric pool heaters use electricity to heat the water in the pool. The water from the pool is put through a filtration and heating unit and then put back into the pool.
Electric pool heaters often offer more energy efficiently than gas models. The real con of having an electric pool heater is that it can lose its efficiency as the weather gets colder. To get peak efficiency from an electric pool heater the temperature outside should be higher than forty five degrees. The lower the temperature the harder your electric pool heater will need to work in order to warm the water in your pool.
Some things you will need to think about when buying an electric pool heater the climate in your area, the total size of your pool, and the time of year when you plan to use the heater. You should also think about your budget as electric pool heaters are often more expensive than gas models.
Gas pool heaters are still popular although they are not as energy efficient as electric or solar models. The efficiency of a pool heater will be in part determined by the temperatures in your area. Gas pool heaters will burn either natural gas or propane. Water is pumped from the pool and through a filter and heating unit just like it is with an electric heater.
The advantage of a gas heater is that it can heat the pool quickly. The least expensive type of pool heater to run are solar models. They will not be practical, however, in all climates. Most of the time the solar collectors for these models are installed on the roof of your home. Water is pumped through the filter and the collectors and then returned to the pool. Solar has the lowest energy consumption of all the pool heaters.
