The Plumber Salary is More Than You Probably Think
Tuesday, October 27th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedBefore you go through and get your Journeyman plumber license, you are going to want to consider the Journeyman plumber salary, and determine whether or not it is going to be enough to support you and your family.
This is important, because of course if the Journeyman plumber salary is less than what you thought, you may have to get a second job or just another job entirely, to afford your bills.
The Journeyman plumber salary is probably more than you think however. Lots of people assume that plumbers do not make good money, but this is actually not true. Keep in mind that the Journeyman plumber salary will vary, depending on the amount of hours you work in a year, how long you have been at the company, and so on.
Journeyman plumbers typically receive at least one raise a year, and so you can expect your salary to continue increasing for the length of time that you stay at the company. Besides the Journeyman plumber salary however, there are a few other things that you want to think about as well before deciding whether or not a Journeyman plumber job is going to be right for you.
Dirt and Grime
One of the biggest problems that most people have is with dirt and grime. If you are not going to be able to get down and dirty, this job is probably not going to be for you. Plumbers have to deal with stagnate water, and often human waste when pipes get clogged up.
As a plumber, you would be installing, servicing and repairing plumbing systems in homes and businesses, and you have to be willing to get down on your hands and knees and do the work that needs to be done.
Long Hours
So the Journeyman plumber salary may be up there, but are you willing to put in long hours for it? Journeyman plumbers typically work full time and often overtime as well. You should expect to be going to work days, evenings, and whenever they need you on the weekends.
Of course if you have prior engagements, for instance you need to watch after your children on the weekend or something of the like, you can usually work this out in the beginning, but they just may not be willing to hire you if you are not willing to come in whenever they need you, so be aware of this before going in for the interview.
